Boarding
FAQs
Does my dog go into the daycare while boarding?
Yes! All social dogs are placed into play groups and are rotated in and out of the daycare yard 5 times a day, receiving over 2 1/2 hour of playtime with their friends. Safety! At K9s Only, rest assured that our daycare area is NEVER over booked or crowded. Other facilities overcrowd their daycare yards, causing frustration and fights. We never allow more than 25 dogs in our yard at a time. Having more than that amount is not safe for the dogs in our care and we will not take that risk to make an extra buck. Additionally, dogs really like to take naps throughout the day, so unless you have a super energetic dog (And we know some of you do) the daily rotations is a more than enough exercise for your pup, and more than most receive at home. All overnight boarders get their own room. Each room comes with a cot or dog bed for comfy naps and sleep time. Dogs that are social with other dogs are put into the Dog Park area at various times during the day to go to the bathroom and play with the other pups. Dogs that do not get along with other dogs are put into one of our private Dog Park areas or taken for personal walks. Boarding dogs that do not purchase a Play Pass (a pass that allows them to remain in the dog park area all day) still get plenty of time in the park to play with others. When they are not in the park, they are in their rooms napping. All dogs are put into their rooms to eat and to sleep at night. Rooms vary in size. Suites are also available. All overnight boarders get their own room with a cot and/or a dog bed. All dogs are put into their rooms to eat and to sleep at night. Social dogs are allowed to play in the Dog Park at various times during the day. Non-social dogs are given private Dog Park areas to play in or taken for walks. Rooms vary in size. Suites are also available. Rooms vary in size. Our Junior Suites are 8x6 with more privacy and include plush bedding for your dog(s). Our Master Suites are 12x8 private rooms and include a large four poster bed, flat screen TV and a personal toy box. These bedroom style rooms are very comfy and great for dogs that like to lounge on an actual bed No problem... we accept all dogs! If your dog does not do well in a group environment, he will still get plenty of play time. We will have two private Dog Park areas specifically for small or non-social dogs as well as private walks to ensure they get plenty of exercise and personal attention. You are welcome to bring anything you wish... beds, blankets, toys, treats! However, we do provide cots and/or dog bedding with each room as well as toys and treats. So you are welcome to bring anything you'd like, but you don't need to. And, of course, we can't always promise that personal items go home in the same condition in which they came. We board puppies as long as the puppy has had his complete set of shots. Most dogs usually are not fully vaccinated until they are 4 months old. Proof of vaccinations is required. If your dog is social with other dogs, we make sure he gets plenty of play time in our Dog Park area. The dogs are on a constant cycle of being let out to go to the bathroom, socialize with other dogs and/or play with one of our kennel staff. When your dog is not in the Dog Park, he is allowed to rest in his room. If your dog is not social with other dogs, he will still get out numerous times a day, either to play in one of the Private Dog Park areas or to be taken for a personal walk. You may also purchase a Play Pass if you wish for your dog to be left in the Dog Park all day with the Daycare dogs. This means your dog is let out into the Park with the other dogs in the morning and isn't brought back into his room until the end of the day when it's time to go to sleep. Yes, our facility is entirely indoors except for the outdoor Dog Park area. All rooms and indoor Dog Parks are climate controlled. The outdoor Dog Park area has plenty of shade and dogs can freely move from the outdoor Dog Park to the indoor Dog Park as they choose. The dogs first go into a gated area within the Dog Park so they may see the other dogs. We then introduce them one by one to avoid any conflicts. There is always a staff member present to ensure everyone's safety. It really depends on the actual size and nature of the dogs. We will not put a teacup Chihuahua in the same room as an immature Mastiff who may get overly excited and jump on the little dog. We pick and choose which dogs will socialize best so we can divide them into play groups throughout the day. Additionally, we have two smaller Dog Park areas for small and/or non-social dogs to enjoy some free-range play time. Yes! We do not believe in putting 50+ dogs together in one area. Even the most social dogs may not get along with everyone, and we believe overcrowding our Dog Park is a recipe for disaster. We limit the number of daycare dogs to no more than 25 and set up play groups for boarding dogs so that we never have too many dogs in the Dog Park at once.
No problem. We find that most dogs want to be kept together, so we never separate them unless requested to do so by the owner. Additionally, the more dogs you have, the lower the rate per dog! You are welcome to purchase personalized walks for your dog if you prefer your dog to have one-on-one time with a staff member. The Orange Bus Line, directly across the street, has a scenic walkway perfect for an afternoon stroll. We also have a nice, quiet neighborhood down the street with shaded grass areas for bathroom breaks.
You may purchase an all day Play Pass if you wish for your dog to be left in the Dog Park all day with the daycare dogs. This means your dog is let out into the Park with the other dogs in the morning and isn't brought back into his room until the end of the day when it's time to go to sleep. Play Passes are for social dogs only. Other than the outdoor Dog Park area, K9s Only is an indoor facility. The doors leading to the kennel areas are locked with key codes to that only employees have access to the dogs. The outdoor Dog Park area has more than adequate fencing and shrubs to avoid any potential escapes. Additionally, a staff member is always present while the dogs are playing in the park. We feed on your dog's normal schedule. If your dog is fed twice a day, then that's what we do. If your dog is fed once a day, no problem. If your dog is fed at 3:00am, well... you might be out of luck on that one. We feed one of the most natural and highest quality brands on the market... Wellness. If you wish your dog to remain on his or her current diet, please bring the food with you. No, there are no extra charges for medication. We are adept at giving whatever medication your dog requires. You are welcome to bring your own brand of dog food with you if you wish. There is no extra charge for using your own food or using ours (Wellness). We will prepare specialized meals however you wish. Some clients ask that we add cooked rice and cottage cheese to their dog's meal. Other clients have their dogs on a raw food diet. In these special cases, we do charge a $5 fee per day. If your dog is on a specific diet, please be sure to bring the food with you and instructions if needed. Yes. Proof of Rabies, Bordetella or Intra-trac are required for all new clients. If you are unsure what shots your dog has had, ask your vet. We need the vaccine that prevents kennel cough and a copy of the rabies certificate on file. We have both Paws and Claws Mobile Vet available as well as the Animal Clinic of Encino nearby if a dog appears ill. The Woodland Hills emergency pet clinic is only a few miles from our location in case of an emergency after hours. If we feel your dog needs to be seen by a vet, we do not hesitate in taking him. We are able to administer antibiotics and other medication ourselves as well. It's best to book your reservation at least 2-3 weeks in advance to ensure we have the space. During the holiday season, we book up very quickly! Thanksgiving is usually entirely booked by early October. Christmas is usually booked by late October.
